Alyssa + Colton’s Romantic Fall Wedding at The Midnight Gem
There’s something about an early fall wedding in Iowa—the beginning of changing seasons, warm colors, and just enough of that crisp fall feeling. Alyssa and Colton’s October 2 wedding at The Midnight Gem in Swisher, Iowa was the perfect example.
Romantic, timeless, and deeply faith-centered, their day was filled with green, gold, and white details and the kind of moments that felt just as meaningful as they looked.
But more than anything, what stood out was their love for each other. Alyssa and Colton have such a grounded presence together. Throughout the day, you could see how naturally they showed up for one another, and getting to capture those little in-between moments was one of my favorite parts of their wedding.
A Wedding Morning at The Midnight Gem
One of my favorite features of The Midnight Gem is the way the venue is designed for the entire wedding day—not just the ceremony and reception.
The venue has separate wings for each side of the wedding party to get ready, giving everyone their own space while still keeping the entire day in one location. From a wedding content perspective, it made it so easy to move between moments and capture both the big milestones and everything happening behind the scenes.
A Faith-Centered Ceremony
Their ceremony was easily one of my favorite parts of the day.
Faith was such a meaningful part of Alyssa and Colton’s wedding, and the ceremony reflected that beautifully. Rather than feeling like a moment to simply get through before the celebration, it felt like the heart of their wedding day.
Those are also some of my favorite moments to capture as a wedding content creator—the reactions, glances, movement, and tiny pieces of a ceremony that can be easy to miss while you’re actually living it.
A Timeless Bridal Look—with a Change for Cocktail Hour
Alyssa’s bridal look was beautiful throughout the day, but one detail I especially loved was her cape added over her wedding dress for cocktail hour.
It completely changed the look without requiring an entirely new dress and created another distinct moment to capture. Against the wedding’s green, gold, and white palette, it fit the timeless and romantic feel of the day perfectly.
Ending the Night With Sparklers
And then came one of the best ways to end a wedding day: a sparkler exit.
After such a meaningful ceremony and celebration, Alyssa and Colton running through their friends and family under the sparklers felt like the perfect final chapter.
It was joyful, a little chaotic in the best way, and exactly the kind of moment that comes alive through video.
Moments like these can be such a burned memory long after your day. I highly recommend choosing something special to your day to incorporate.
Wedding Content Creation at The Midnight Gem
I spent six hours alongside Alyssa and Colton documenting their day and delivered 150+ raw video clips, giving them the moments they remembered—and so many of the little ones they may not have seen happening around them.
That’s what I love most about wedding content creation. It isn’t about turning your wedding into a production. It’s about preserving what the day actually felt like, from another point of view, and giving you those moments back while they’re still fresh.
A huge thank you to Alyssa and Colton for trusting Stay in Frame with a small part of such an important day. Learn more about wedding content creation here.
And if you’re planning your own wedding at The Midnight Gem, in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area, or elsewhere in Iowa, I’d love to capture your day in frame.
